In 1940, the Big Ten Market was established as a small grocery store. In 1953 the store was purchased by Eugene Towner and Ed Sharon, and they renamed it the Big Ten Party Store.
In 2001, Matt Morgan and Tommy York purchased the store from Gene Towner's family, and set themselves to the task of revitalizing what had once been Ann Arbor's store of choice for fine food and drink.
On September 1st, 2005, four years after beginning their task of revitalizing the store, Tommy and Matt changed the name to 'Morgan & York, Fine Wines and Specialty Foods.' Times had changed enough, and the store had changed enough, that the campus-oriented 'Big Ten' name no longer fit.
We employ primarily full-time staff who are passionate about good food and drink, and enjoy giving friendly and enthusiastic service. If you are interested in hearing more, check here.
Our product selection is constantly evolving, but the emphasis is always the same: food and drink with authentic flavor. We prefer small, traditional producers when possible, and we do our best to take great care of the product when it arrives, so it gets to you in top condition.
